Retention marketing training for DTC agencies

Better retention marketing retains clients, grows accounts and wins pitches

Live retention marketing training for the strategists, copywriters and account leads already running your client accounts. Better renewals, more scope, stronger pitches.

How it helps your agency

Do the work better and the rest follows

Build the thinking once. It shows up in the work, in the renewal and in the next pitch.

01Do better work

Get more out of the customers your clients already paid to acquire.

02Keep the client

Results they can see, and no gap for a specialist shop to walk into.

03Grow the account

Add lifecycle, CRM, email and SMS to a retainer you already hold.

04Win the next one

Walk into the pitch with a retention story, not an acquisition deck.

The agency opportunity

Retention is where agencies get compared

Prospects compare you at the pitch. Clients compare you again at every renewal. In both rooms, the agency that can explain what happens after the first purchase looks like the more serious partner, holds the wider brief, and is much harder to replace. That is a skills problem before it is a positioning problem.

01 · Skills

Give your team a model to work from

Practical retention thinking they can apply across accounts, instead of piecing it together from scattered courses, inherited habits and trial and error.

02 · Client value

Make clients more money, then own more of the work

Acquisition costs what it costs. The margin sits in the second and third order, and the team that finds it earns the case for a bigger retainer. Scope grows on the back of results, not on the back of a pitch deck.

03 · New business

Pitch the wider brief, not the acquisition slice

Retention stops being something you refer out, outsource or steer the conversation away from. It becomes part of what you walk in with, on new business and on renewals, which is usually the difference between a channel budget and a lifecycle one.

04 · Consistency

One standard across every account, not five

When everyone learned the work at a different previous employer, quality swings by whoever picked up the account. A shared model means less rework, fewer escalations, and no account left as an open gap for a specialist shop to fill.

Build the skills before you build headcount. Start with one session, prove the value with the team, then roll it out across the agency deliberately.

Who it is for

Who this actually works for

The best fit is a DTC agency that already has good marketers and good client relationships, and wants them stronger on retention before it commits to a specialist hire.

A good fit if
  • ✓You want to grow the retainers you already hold rather than only chase the next logo
  • ✓Clients and prospects are asking about email, SMS, lifecycle or retention and you want to answer with confidence
  • ✓You want your strategists, copywriters and account leads thinking like senior retention marketers sooner
  • ✓You would rather develop the people you have than add another salary to the payroll
  • ✓You are getting scoped down to acquisition, or losing pitches to agencies with a retention story
Not a good fit if
  • ✗The team is brand new to email and SMS and needs the platform taught first
  • ✗You want a certification, a syllabus or something to put on a careers page
  • ✗You need one specific client account fixed for you, rather than your team taught how to fix it
  • ✗You are looking for done-for-you work rather than making your own team better
  • ✗Nobody can protect an hour in the calendar, and a recording nobody watches will not fix that

Mixed team? That is normal. A short intake form before the session tells me where the room sits, so I pitch it to the people actually in it. Each topic card also says who the session is aimed at, so you can put your juniors in one and your seniors in another rather than splitting the difference.

Why Four Scoop

I do this work daily. I don't just teach it

Everything in these sessions has been tested against live accounts, real revenue targets and clients who wanted an answer by Friday. The goal is not to make your team better at taking training. It is to make them better in the room, whether that room is a pitch, a QBR or a Monday planning call.

I'm not a career trainer. I still run campaigns and flows every week. Your team gets current senior retention thinking, applied to the kinds of problems they actually face inside agency accounts.

Questions

The things teams ask first

If yours isn't here, email me and I'll answer it straight. No form, no funnel.

What happens to the client work we discuss?

It stays in the room. Sessions never require account access or screen shares, so there is nothing to grant and nothing to revoke, and anything your team describes out loud stays with your team. Nothing gets reused as an example elsewhere, published, or shared with another client. Happy to sign your NDA before the first session, or send you mine.

Recordings are made for your team's use and sent only to you. I don't keep a copy beyond delivery unless you ask me to.

Do you look at our accounts in the session?

No, and that's deliberate. An hour is not enough time to open an account you've never seen, understand how it got that way and say anything useful about it. What it is enough time for is teaching the model properly, working it against real scenarios, and applying it to whatever your team describes in the room.

How many people can join?

Up to 25, which keeps it a conversation rather than a webinar. The material holds up at that size because it does not depend on getting into anyone's account. Larger than 25 and the discussion gets harder to run properly, so I'd usually suggest splitting into two sessions instead.

Do we get a recording?

Yes. The recording, the deck, any templates used and the prompt pack land the same day. They're yours to keep and reuse internally, including for people who join the team later.

What timezones do you cover?

I'm in South Africa (GMT+2), and I run sessions across UK, EU and US East Coast hours comfortably. US West Coast works early in your morning. Tell me your team's working hours and I'll find a slot that doesn't cost anyone their evening.

How does the monthly option work?

Two sessions a month, topics picked as your team runs into them rather than locked to a curriculum months ahead. We sequence the next quarter loosely so there's a direction, then adjust when something more urgent comes up.

No minimum term. Cancel any month and the packs you've already built up stay yours. If a month gets away from you, one session carries into the next so a busy stretch doesn't turn into wasted spend.

What is in the prompt pack?

Prompts and written instructions for the workflow the session covers, so the thinking carries into the tools your team already uses. Plain text, no bespoke platform, and they paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini equally well.

They are built per topic rather than generic. The ideation session ships with prompts for generating and pressure-testing angles; the analysis session ships with prompts for interrogating an export. Yours to reuse across every client on your roster.

Why pay for this when there is so much free training online?

Two people talking about retention isn't the same as someone showing it. Free content is useful for learning that a concept exists. It is much less useful when the goal is a team that can hold its own in a pitch and apply the same judgment across every account.

The difference is application. Your team can challenge the thinking, work through real agency scenarios and leave with a model they can use across clients. The objective is not another completed video. It is a capability your agency can actually deploy and sell.

Do you cover platforms other than Klaviyo?

The thinking is platform-agnostic and applies to any ESP. The worked examples lean Klaviyo because that's where I spend most of my time, alongside subscription tools, push and mobile app lifecycle. If your team runs something else, say so upfront and I'll pitch the examples accordingly.

What if we need to reschedule?

Move it, no charge, as long as I know more than 24 hours out. Agency weeks fall apart, I get it.

How does payment work?

Invoiced in USD, payable by Wire Transfer, Direct Bank Transfer or Wise. Single sessions are settled before the call. The monthly option is invoiced at the start of each month, and you can stop it before the next one.

Get started

What could you keep, grow and win if your team could own retention?

Tell me what you keep getting asked for in pitches, where your team gets stuck once the work lands, or what you want to add to your scope. We will work out which gap is worth closing first.

  • ✓ Start with the gap costing you the most work
  • ✓ A five-question intake form, nothing for the team to prepare
  • ✓ Two people or twenty-five, same rate, cameras optional
  • ✓ Deck, templates, recording and prompt pack land the same day

Ready to get started?

Start with a 15-minute intro chat. Tell me what your agency already sells, what you are losing work on and where the team needs to be sharper. No pitch, and no obligation to book anything.
